Youper is closing. What its users were missing anyway.
Youper announced it will shut down on 30 September 2026. Before that, its reviews had settled on three complaints: it asked about your problems and then asked for money, it forgot previous conversations and repeated questions, and it only spoke English. The three complaints, and how Aura answers them
Paywall mid-conversation: Aura's chat is free for everyone, every day, and there is no upgrade prompt inside a conversation, ever. The daily allowance is stated up front and refills at midnight, so it is never sprung on you as a wall. Voice and circles are the only things that carry a price, they are asked for in your dashboard rather than sprung on you at a hard moment, and there is no card on file to be charged in the first place.
No memory: Aura stores your profile and memories on the server and reads them before every reply. She does not re-ask what you told her last week.
English only: Aura works in English, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, Spanish, and French, including Roman Urdu and Hinglish, and switches mid-sentence when you do.
What Youper did well
Youper's mood tracking and short guided exercises were genuinely useful to many people, and its clinical framing was careful. Aura is more conversation than tracker; if the tracker was the part you used, a dedicated mood app may suit you better alongside Aura.
